Music at St Mark’s CE Academy is thriving and exciting. We, at St Marks, believe that Music is a universal language which should be accessible to all. We aim to inspire our children to explore their musical talents, creativity and build self-confidence. With a choir for KS1 and KS2, singing is encouraged through all ages. Collective Worship takes place everyday where children collectively sing praises onto God and are given opportunities to take part in small performances.
All students cover aspects of music performance, singing, playing, composing, improvisation and listening within the curriculum. At St Marks CE Academy children gain an understanding of rhythm, different musical genres (including classical), a wider understanding of music, music history and cultural context. We aim to cover these throughout the children’s learning journey at School. Selected children at St Marks CE Academy have the opportunity to take part in the wider Academy choir and Instrumental individual lesson is an area of focus.
If you are looking for your child to be inspired creatively musically, St Mark’s is a great nurturing ground. We aim to develop the musicians of the next generation and this begins at St Marks CE Primary School.
