¡Hola!

As part of St. Marks C of E Primary School use of PPA time to enrich the curriculum all children from Reception to 6 have a weekly Spanish lesson. All children participate in a weekly session in Spanish lasting between 30 and 45 minutes. During this lesson they will learn about a range of cultural activities in Spain as well as lots of Spanish vocabulary. The children undertake a range of activities including speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The lessons will include a mixture of games, songs, DVD clips, role play and written work (KS2) and traditional tales and stories (Reception and KS1) I hope to cover a wide range of topics over the course of the year and pupils will be encouraged to help me choose what we look at next, once the basics are mastered.

Each classroom has a small but lively display showing learning objectives and key illustrated vocabulary being covered each half term. Children are mostly very enthusiastic about their learning; it is not uncommon to hear Spanish words in and out of the classroom. We hope this year to develop the subject further, introducing larger events, e.g.a Spanish club. You will find below web links to further learning as there will never be time for everyone to access these in lesson time.
